Releasing Resistance

A big part of biofield tuning has to do with releasing resistance within the body. The opposite of resisting something is accepting it. When we accept something, we acknowledge it and release our judgement of it as good or bad. As we release our judgement of something, it releases it’s hold on us emotionally. There is a ton of energy tied up in our emotional reactions to circumstances and experiences in our lives, so when we release these emotions, energy gets freed up as well. We could all use a bit of extra energy in our daily lives.

So, let’s talk about resistance vs. acceptance. One path toward acceptance is the daily use of affirmations. Affirmations have come along way since they were affectionately mocked by Stuart Smalley on SNL in the 90’s. Many people use or try to use affirmations in their lives to improve a situation or their outlook on a situation. “I love and accept my body”. “I feel secure in my finances”. “I am supported and loved by many people”. One of the problems with affirmations is that our mind is smart enough to know that we don’t yet believe what we are saying. Just the act of saying them aloud can bring up a bunch of negative thoughts and feelings and create a knee jerk reaction of resistance within us. It’s hard to move towards something when you are actively resisting it.

If you feel resistance when you use affirmations, I would like to offer you an upgrade. You can trick the mind out of resistance and into flow by slightly changing the way you phrase your affirmations.

Instead of saying, “I love my body”,

try saying to yourself “what would it feel like to truly love and accept my body in this moment?”.

When you ask yourself, “what would it feel like?” you are letting yourself off the hook in the moment from the fact that you haven’t created this feeling yet. You are allowing yourself to just explore a new reality where these things do exist. You are getting your body to imagine and respond to the frequency of that emotion. You release your resistance to the idea that you can create this for yourself and by doing that you are one step closer to allowing it to come into your life.

Here are some other examples:

What would it feel like to be fully supported and loved by a close group of friends? Then spend some time imagining what that would feel like. When you are allowing yourself to feel this, you are opening a space in your life for this feeling to come in.

What would it feel like to be financially secure and free of worry about the future? What would it feel like to wake up every day and know that I will spend it doing things that bring me joy? Then spend a few minutes imagining and feeling into those emotions.

Sometimes the very energy we need to make an improvement in our lives is bound up and unavailable to us because it is being used to resist our current reality. Our energy is being used to continually say, “I don’t like this”. This is a retracting, resisting, closed off energy. This is the opposite of flow. When you free up the energy you are using to resist what is, you can use it to begin to imagine, invite and create the life you want.
